RIP Skype
As you may or may not know, back in 2008 I decided to purchase an 0151 UK phone number from Skype to make calling us in Poland free (or at most very cheap) for my clients.
Microsoft has decided to retire Skype by May 2025 to focus on its more modern communication platform, Microsoft Teams.
Skype, once a pioneer in internet-based calls, has struggled to keep up with newer competitors like Zoom and WhatsApp. Microsoft believes Teams offers a more integrated and advanced experience, combining messaging, video calls, file sharing, and collaboration tools in one platform.
If you’re a Skype user, you can transition to Microsoft Teams using your existing Skype credentials, and your contacts and chat history will be migrated automatically.
